What "not searched" means

The app is not live yet. This article describes the intended behaviour. planned

Pages the search cannot read

Search only works on text the app can read. Some pages have no readable text. Those pages are listed as not searched.

Not searched means the app could not read that page. It does not mean the page lacks your word. A search cannot return a result from a page it could not read.

Each list of search results has a coverage line. It gives the number of pages searched, out of the pages in the project. It also gives the number not searched.

A search with no results never shows a blank screen. It says that nothing matched, and it says what was not searched. Read that line before you conclude anything.

The Index Report names each page by its section page or its sheet number, with the reason for each. The reasons are:

  • The page is a scan with no text layer.
  • The text is garbled and failed a check.
  • The sheet is a large-format scan, which is flagged. Large scanned drawings are never run through OCR.

To check a page that was not searched, open it in your PDF viewer and read it. Example project (fictional): three pages show "scanned page, no text layer".
