What we could not read
The example Index Report. Each count says what it is out of.
Not searched: 3 pages
Out of 53 pages.
These pages have no text layer, so a search cannot read them.
- Section 07 92 00, page 3: scanned page, no text layer
- Sheet S-201: scanned page, no text layer
- Sheet S-501: scanned page, no text layer
Listed in the sheet index but not found: 1 sheet
Out of 16 sheet numbers in the sheet index.
The sheet index on Sheet G-001 lists these numbers. No page with the number was found in the set.
- Sheet A-401 (Stair and Entry Enlargements)
Also in this set
Sheet numbers in more than one issue: 1
Out of 15 sheet numbers found.
The same sheet number appears in more than one issue. Each issue is searched and shown with its label.
- Sheet A-501: Issue 1, Issue 2

How it works
The app is not live yet. The search above is a fixed example. These steps say what the product is designed to do. Pieces that are not built yet are marked planned.
Add your files
Add the files from the bid: specification books, drawing sets and addenda. A zip is fine. Large files upload in a way that can resume. planned
We read what can be read, and list what can't
Each page is checked for text. Pages with no text are flagged, not searched. Sheets listed in the sheet index but not found are reported. You get an Index Report with counts. planned
Search, pick the pages, hand off
Search the files in a project at once. Results are grouped by section or sheet, with a line that says how much was searched. Pick the sections and sheets you need and take them to your markup tool. planned
What we tell you up front
The app is not live yet. The example search above shows the first four lines at work on an invented project. On your own files, those four are planned.
- Scanned pages are flagged, not searched. A search does not read them. OCR for ordinary scanned pages is planned and is not available yet. Large scanned drawings are never run through OCR.
- Sheets listed in the sheet index but not found in the files are reported.
- A search with zero results always comes with what was not searched. No results is not the same as "not in the set".
- The same sheet number in more than one issue is kept. Each issue is shown with its label.
- We point to pages. We do not interpret them. You read the page and make the call.
- There are no markup tools and no takeoff tools. That is not what this is for.
Hand off to your markup tool
The job ends when the right pages are found. You choose the sections and sheets you want. Then you export them as one PDF with a bookmark for each section and sheet. Open it in the tool you mark up in, such as Bluebeam. planned
Privacy and security
- The example search on this page runs in your browser. It sends nothing anywhere.
Questions
The app is not live yet. These answers say how your own files are designed to be handled, which is planned. The only working part is the example search above, on an invented project.
What happens to scanned pages?
Each page is checked on its own. A page with no text layer is flagged as not searched, and the coverage line and the Index Report name it. OCR for ordinary scanned pages is planned and is not available yet. Large scanned drawings are never run through OCR.
So when a search finds nothing, check the list of pages that were not searched before you conclude anything.
What if my download is hundreds of single-page PDFs?
Some plan rooms give you a drawing set as one PDF per sheet. Putting them back in order is planned. The idea is to use the number at the end of each file name as the order. We would then check that the numbers run without gaps. If they do not, we say so instead of guessing.
How are addenda handled?
Add addenda to the same project as more files. If a sheet number shows up in more than one issue, each issue is kept and labelled, as in the example above. Nothing is dropped without telling you.
A set with specifications but no base drawings, or with drawings only in addenda, will be reported. planned
Do you use my documents to train AI?
No. We don't use your documents to train AI. The search on this page uses no AI at all.
What can't it do?
- It does not interpret specs. It does not tell you what a requirement means.
- It has no markup tools and no takeoff tools.
- It does not read large-format scanned drawings. It flags them.
- It does not search pages with no text layer. It lists them as not searched.
Scopereader finds the page. You read it and decide.
